This is photograph taken of my family at a park in Victorville, CA. You are looking at thirteen of my cousins and my uncle at center. My five cousins and myself were very close growing up (our moms were sister and our dads were brothers) so much so that we call their children my nieces and nephews, even though technically they're my cousins too. The first thing to catch your eye in this photograph is the seemingly ultra bright sunbeams, shinning not so brightly trough the trees, but instead over their heads. Now, while working on the Eurydice project we discussed how distracting to the audience a front facing backlight can be, and in this we see that natural light does just the same. However, I think natural light has more power to therefore make the faces borderline invisible. Missing from this picture is my aunt who died two years ago, and we like to believe that the brightest beam just to the right of my uncle, is her.
