So, the community college I went to is doing Hair, and my friend is a scenic artist on the project. Over spring break I went to help with some of the painting of a major set piece (they got a full-sized bus) that needed to be done with paint that glows under a black light. I never got to see what it looked like while I was there. However, the show opened this week, and my friend sent me some pictures. One thing I was really surprised by was how much light came from the paints, it seemed that the glow was bright enough to light other objects on the stage, as well as some of the actors. I think that this would be a really interesting aspect to incorporate into a design, or just to experiment with and see how much we would actually be able to light.
