Light Through Leaves

Hello Everyone,

My name is Rebecca Rowland. For my first post, I wanted to talk about some light I noticed on campus the other day. I was practicing a monologue on the benches in front of the box office next to the fountain underneath those big beautiful trees. I layed down on the bench and looked up at the tree branches and leaves above me and was struck by the beautiful afternoon sunlight filtering through them. The effect was a warm green and the pockets of light and shadow shifted as the branches swayed gently in the wind. The texture of the light felt was very visible and reminded me of forests, of childhood, of an unpredictable and natural landscape.  I thought about how one could create this affect in a theater and all the different possible uses and integrations of this into different plays or dances or musicals. Maybe you could use gobos on a source four. I will attach some pictures so you can see.
